Position Overview

This position is based in our Ridgeland (MS) Office. The Environmental Technician is responsible for performing sampling and testing associated with environmental field work. Specific assignments are received from a superior and, when other than routine, are accompanied by oral or written instructions. Work is performed under the general direction of a professional geologist, engineer, or project-specific manager; however, as experience is gained, greater independence is allowed in carrying out recurring assignments.

Key Responsibilities

The position is responsible for completing field and office efforts, including but not limited to the following:

  • Collecting environmental samples (air/water/soil/sediment).
  • Installing various types of remediation systems.
  • Oversight of subcontractors.
  • Preparation of paperwork, logs, and other field forms documenting efforts performed.
  • Assisting with data evaluation and report preparation.

Responsibilities also include environmental compliance assistance for a wide range of commercial, industrial, and governmental clients and other environmental engineering duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should have the ability to safely work independently and in teams while consistently following specific instructions and guidelines.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Exceptional diligence.
  • Clear driving record.

Travel and overnight stays are routinely required for specific project sites.Candidates should also be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel, at a minimum. Graduation from high school or general education degree (GED) is required. Entry level position, no direct experience required; however, must understand how to follow written and oral instructions.
