EOL NETWORK SPECIALIST

Position Title: EOL NETWORK SPECIALIST

Location: Hybrid: (3 days per week in office/2 days remote) Data centers and various agency locations across five boroughs of NYC.

Job Type: Contract

Duration: 12 Months

Work Schedule: Normal business hours Monday-Friday 35 hours/week (not including mandatory unpaid meal break after 6 hours of work).

Pay Rate: $100 to $110 per hour

Job Description/Justification:

To assist with the implementation of network technologies for key IT projects. Relevant experience in routing, switching, and data center technologies is required. The consultant will support architecture design, planning, and the implementation of network changes.

SCOPE OF SERVICES

Network – Routing and Switching:

TASKS:

  • Prepare design to DCops and Field Tech to rack and install new equipment.
  • Prepare migration either for parallel build or hot-cut.
  • Set-up devices in Science Logic, asset management and on performance management tools, such as Ciena AIPA, NetScout Infinistream, and CRC Dashboard.
  • Provide updates to stakeholders on network equipment to follow technical requirements.
  • Prepare configuration and deploy on new devices.
  • Connect users to new devices.
  • Configure and release IP addresses in IP Address Management Portal.

MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

Note: Candidates who do not have the mandatory skills will not be considered.

  • Twelve (12) years of experience in the field of networking
  • Must have hands-on experience with BGP, MPLS, OSPF routing protocols in a large environment

Proposed candidates must be available for hybrid work schedule for the duration of the assignment. Any requests for alternative schedules / arrangements will not be considered.

DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 12 years’ experience of Cisco network installations in multiple ring configurations interconnected over dark fiber.
  • Experience in deploying Cisco NCS routers, IOS-XR software with complete understanding of the limitations of line cards, power supplies and feature-sets. 6 yrs.
  • Experience in MPLS, EIGRP, OSPF, iBGP, eBGP, IS-IS routing protocols
  • Configuring CORE/PE and CPE routers/switches in a mid to large size organization or carriers. 4 yrs.
  • Detailed understanding of designing and implementing overall enterprise QoS solution, including queuing for Cisco NCS products. 2 yrs.
  • Detailed understanding of deploying management protocols (SNMPv3, Syslog, Netflow, etc.) 4 yrs.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Ability to work in cross functional teams; excellent attention to detail.
  • Highly self-motivated and strong customer and quality-focus.
  • Sound problem resolution, judgment, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience working with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Experience reviewing project design and system documents 4 yrs.
  • Experience is designing including network architectural designs in MS Visio is desired
  • Familiarity with City of New York network infrastructure environments and processes.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Travel to / from work office(s) and remote location(s), onsite presence for maintenance windows WILL BE REQUIRED.

PLEASE NOTE: Client will not be reimbursing for the travels which is expected to be confined to within five boroughs of City of New York.
