Epic Job Descriptions and Classifications

Clinical Analysts:

Fundamental clinical application certification (example: EpicCare InPatient, EpicCare Ambulatory) (patient information gathering, clinical workflows (orders, documentation), inbasket, reporting)

Administration clinical application – specific to specialty application or advanced for fundamental (navigators, flowsheets, preference lists, preference cards, smarttools, smartsets, ordersets, reports, procedures)

Configuring Epic End User (Security Classes, User Roles, Profiles, Rules, User templates)

Non-Clinical Analysts:

Fundamentals of specific applications (example: Cadence, Resolute (billing)– functionality of basic application, navigation and information gathering, integration with other epic modules

Administration non-clinical applications – configuration of technical build,

Configuring Epic End User (Security Classes, User Roles, Profiles, Rules, User templates)

Epic Certification Requirements:

Certification begins with a base certification of fundamentals, administrative and configuration of the end user classes. These require classes, projects, and exams.

The specialty certifications require pre-requisites of the base certification, e-learnings and specialty class, project and exam.

Example: Clinical certification for Radiant (Radiology) or Cupid (Cardiology) require the base of EpicCare Ambulatory or InPatient Clinical Documentation before applying for the specialty certification.

Classifications:

Junior Analyst:

Base certification with 1–2-year experience in application build/support

· Non-complex maintenance, support, tasks – L1 ticket support

· Application/Integrated testing

· Non- complex Enhancements/Optimization build

Mid Analyst:

Base certification with 1 additional certification, 2-4 years’ experience in application build/support

Senior Analyst:

Base certification with 2+ additional certifications with 4+ years’ experience in application build/support

Analyst Job description:

· Identify issues that arise in their specific application area, as well as issues that impact other application teams and work to resolve them

· Participate in workflow design, building and testing the system

· Analyzing other technical issues associated with Epic system

· Experience handling Epic workflow configurations and implementation

· Create training documentation for tip sheets

· Incident, Change and Request Management – follows organizational practices

· Process documentation – Documents and build workflows, standards, and business processes to facilitate knowledge transfer within and across teams

· Vendor collaboration as needed – works with vendor in implementing, upgrading, supporting and troubleshooting applications

· Business user discussion/facilitations as needed – facilitates business discussions to identify the requirements for application functionality and workflow

· Application design, configuration and support based on standards and guidelines

· System subject matter expert (SME)– represent the knowledge area as a SME and identify downstream impacts as familiarity with the company systems and business processes increase

· System Enhancement Identification – research, analyze, and present information and provides input regarding potential system enhancement needs

Job Type: Full-time
