EQUIPMENT OPERATOR I - SOLID WASTE

EQUIPMENT OPERATOR I - SOLID WASTE functions include but are not limited to the following:

• Operational Duties:
  • Drive sanitation vehicle, collecting waste and recyclables.
  • Efficiently pick up solid waste along assigned routes.
  • Transport refuse to the landfill, following designated routes.
• Solid Waste Management:
  • Operate trucks for the collection and transportation of debris to the city landfill.
  • Perform tasks related to trash collection, ensuring the proper disposal of waste.
  • Assist in recycling and disposal-related tasks.
• Vehicle Maintenance:
  • Perform daily inspections and safety checks on assigned vehicles.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including vehicle checklists, trip logs, and repair reports.
• Compliance and Policies:
  • Follow City and departmental rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Report to work free from the influence of drugs, controlled substances, or alcohol.
• Emergency Response:
  • Essential personnel may be on 24-hour call-out for emergencies.
  • Work overtime, including during emergencies, to provide essential services.
• Contribute to the team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience: 1 year of previous relevant work experience is required.

Supervisory: No previous supervisory experience is required.

Certifications/Licenses: Valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License
