Equipment Technician

Summary

The In-House Equipment Service Technician (Engineer) is responsibly for supporting the operation, maintenance, installation, testing and troubleshooting of Canon Steppers and other semiconductor equipment within Ventex's lab environment. This role is critical to ensuring equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and the safe and effective operation of the laboratory and facility. The position is ideal for a hands-on technical professional who enjoys solving complex equipment challenges in a fast-paced environment.

Basic Function

Equipment Refurbishment, Maintenance and Troubleshooting

  • Perform preventative maintenance on Canon Steppers and other lab tools, including TEL, and additional equipment
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and software-related equipment issues
  • Assist in developing and executing maintenance schedules to ensure optimal equipment performance

Machine Installation and Testing

  • Perform equipment installations and de-installations while ensuring all safety protocols are followed
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians during machine moves and setup transitions
  • Conduct equipment testing and evaluate machine performance
  • Develop and red wafers for testing purposes and accurately document results.

Lab Operations & Facility Support

  • Maintain a clean,organized and safe work environment
  • Participate in uncrating and supervising crating processes for machines and parts
  • Perform upgrades, repairs, parts testing and calibration and evaluate component functuality
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety requirements
  • Assist with other duties necessary to support the smooth operation of the laboratory and facility

Travel Requirements

  • Some travel may be required for machine installations, customer support, and other operational requirements

Internal & External Interactions

  • Communicate and collaborate with:
  • Equipment Production Manager, service engineers and other engineering staff
  • Internal Ventex teams (Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Executive Management
  • External vendors, contractors and equipment suppliers
  • Customers and field service personnel as required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work on equipment and computers for prolonged periods of time (while sitting, standing, bending and lifting)
  • Ability to lift and handle equipment, parts and materials as required
  • Ability to travel domestically as necessary and work safely around industrial equipment

Minimum Knowledge and Background Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Service Technician, Machine Technician, or Engineer in a similar role
  • Strong understanding of Canon Steppers, KLA, TEL, or similar semiconductor equipment is preferred
  • Experience with preventative maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and testing of complex machinery
  • Ability to read and understand technical documentation, schematics and manuals
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Good communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and external vendors
  • Willingness to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment with varied responsibilities

Location

  • This position is based in San Jose, CA and requires regular on-site work within Ventex's laboratory and production facilities.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
