Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Equipment & Tool Shop Mechanic with a Class A CDL to join our dynamic team. This position combines transportation, equipment maintenance, shop operations, and field support responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have experience working with small gas and diesel engines, construction equipment, hand and power tools, and possess strong mechanical and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities/Duties

  • Follow repair schedules, ensuring equipment is maintained in working order and according to standard
  • Identify needs for replacement equipment and informs supervisor
  • Ensures cost-effective usage of all equipment, supplies, and tools in shop
  • Safely transport construction equipment, materials, and tools to and from job sites using Class A CDL vehicles.
  • Load, unload, and secure equipment and materials for transport.
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain small gas and diesel engines.
  • Service and repair a variety of construction and hand tools, including:

Battery-powered and electric hand tools

Power trowels

Screeds

Compactors

Generators

Pumps

Mixers

  • Perform preventative maintenance and equipment inspections.
  • Assist with shop fabrication projects, including welding and metalwork.
  • Maintain an organized warehouse and tool inventory system.
  • Track equipment, parts, and maintenance records using computer software.
  • Support construction crews with equipment setup, troubleshooting, and repairs as needed.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and transportation regulations.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working independently in shop environment, repairing and maintain equipment
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
  • Experience working on small gas and diesel engines.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience repairing construction equipment and power tools.
  • Fabrication and welding experience preferred.
  • Basic construction industry knowledge.
  • Warehouse, inventory, and organizational experience.
  • Basic computer skills for inventory management, maintenance records, and communication.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively deal with all levels of the organization as well as writing skills
  • Able to work at a steady, even pace, has a high aptitude for work that is technical in nature

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms’ stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear
  • Ability to lift, move, push, pull and/or carry up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to crawl, crouch, kneel, bend, reach, stretch, and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in a shop environment and on active construction sites.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Travel Requirements

  • Travel to various job sites is required.

Pay: $28.20 - $31.50 per hour
