Escape Room Host

Starting pay: $14/hour

Part Time - roughly 20 hours per week

The Escape Company Orlando (TECO) is a small, independently owned escape room with 100% locally designed, one-of-a-kind rooms. We’re growing, building new games, and generally trying to make cool stuff people actually remember.

We’re pretty chill, but we do expect people to be adults. We don’t micromanage. If you show up, do your job, and don’t create problems, we’ll probably get along great.

This job might be for you if:

  • You want extra money without working somewhere soul-crushingYou don’t mind spending your time helping people solve puzzles
  • You enjoy a little chaos, a lot of creativity, and occasionally watching customers miss the obvious on camera
  • You’re a Dungeon Master, Game Master, puzzle person, theater kid, spooky weirdo, or just someone with good people skills and decent common senseYou should also probably be someone who:

Expectations:

  • Enthusiastically greet guests (Do not apply if you are uncomfortable talking with strangers)
  • Learn Room Introductions, Room Gameplay, and Room Resets in a timely manner with extreme attention to detail
  • Learn TECO procedures and be able to answer questions accurately for guests and potential guests, guiding them toward an experience they would enjoy
  • Be able to run multiple experiences at the same time, giving each the attention needed for excellent customer service - multitasking is a must!
  • Be fluent in household-type chores (Cleaning restrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, etc.)
  • Work our Escape Bar - we sell beer, wine, and canned cocktails - FOR THIS REASON, WE SUGGEST YOU BE 21+ TO APPLY
  • Maintain props (light carpentry or crafting comes in handy here)
  • Work well with our current TECO Team to share the work load equitably and ensure a fun and positive work environment
  • Trouble-shoot tech problems as they occur - and they will occur
  • Have great math skills, especially when it comes to working with time as well as making accurate change (Interviews will incorporate several math questions)
  • Be in character for room introductions, clues, and other guest interactions when appropriate
  • Interact with guests at the end of their experience, making sure each game ends positively regardless of team success by taking their photo and answering any questions they may have, along with inviting them back for a future game

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing or sitting for long periods of time
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, and reaching is required for proper reset of rooms
  • Comfortable in small-ish spaces
  • Comfortable in dark spaces (even with ghosts and skeletons about)
  • Must be 18+, preferably 21+
  • Must be able to list 20 lbs

Pay: From $14.00 per hour
