ESL/ELL Tutor - Spanish-speaking Adult

Job description: Seeking a dedicated and experienced Bilingual English language tutor to provide engaging, one-on-one lessons for an adult learner. The student is a native Spanish speaker who would like to improve their overall English communication skills, with a focus on everyday conversation, listening, speaking, reading, and writing. They are working on building confidence when speaking with others, strengthening grammar basics such as verb tenses, and they would like to eventually use English more comfortably at work and for her family owned business.

Schedule: The student needs tutoring on weekday (Monday-Friday) mornings from 10am-12pm. If you cannot accommodate this timing, you need not apply.

TDBH is a one-on-one, in-home and/or online tutoring service. We understand the value and effectiveness of face-to-face interaction in the learning process, and promote in-person tutoring whenever possible. There is the potential for remote work, but we are largely dedicated to in-person tutoring.

This is an excellent fit for college students or recent graduates, and current or retired teachers/professors! It's also a great role for working professionals or subject matter experts that have a genuine interest in helping children and want to make a positive impact in their community!

Our tutors must:

  • Have a strong background/expertise in the subject
  • Be comfortable working with students and build a good rapport
  • Behave and dress professionally
  • Create a positive and supportive learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with student, family members/guardians, and teachers
  • Have strong communication (i.e., written & verbal) & organizational (i.e., time management) skills
  • Be willing to meet students in-person at their home (or in a public space)
  • Be able to use online tools for instruction for virtual tutoring (if requested)
  • Be able to travel within a reasonable distance to the tutoring location

Experience:

  • Strong knowledge/expertise in the subject
  • Experience in tutoring or creating lesson plans is a plus
  • Experience working with students in an educational or childcare setting is a plus

Education:

  • High school graduate (Required)
  • College student 1st/2nd year or higher (Preferred)

Responsibilities:

  • Scheduling: Schedule tutoring sessions with clients
  • Preparation: Prepare lesson plans for each session
  • Tutoring: Teach skills and concepts required. Assist with homework and studying for tests
  • Reporting: Monitor student’s progress and summarize each session in a report

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
