Duties
- Assist attorneys with estate planning tasks including drafting wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance healthcare directives using legal case management software.
- Manage probate proceedings by preparing necessary court documents, filing estate inventories, and coordinating with courts and beneficiaries.
- Review and organize legal documents utilizing document management systems like Trustate and PCLaw; ensure accuracy in data entry and filing.
- Interview clients to gather pertinent information for estate planning or probate cases, maintaining clear communication and professional phone etiquette.
- Support project management efforts by tracking case deadlines, preparing status reports, and coordinating with multiple stakeholders to meet procedural requirements.
- Perform legal administrative duties including proofreading documents, transcribing dictations, managing correspondence, and maintaining meticulous case files.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a paralegal or legal assistant with a focus on estate planning or probate law preferred.
- Knowledge of estate planning procedures, probate processes, and procedural law would be preferred.
- Proficiency in legal software such as Trustate, PCLaw, Westlaw; experience with document review and case management systems helpful.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence; keen proofreading abilities to ensure accuracy.
- Demonstrated clerical experience including data entry, filing systems management, transcription services, and administrative support functions.
- Effective communication skills with professional phone etiquette; ability to interview clients confidently while maintaining confidentiality.
