Safe Harbor Estate Law is seeking a dedicated Estate Planning Attorney to join a client-focused legal team. As an Estate Planning Associate Attorney, you will work closely with clients under the guidance of more senior attorneys.


Your responsibilities will include advising on legal options, drafting estate planning documents, and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws. In addition to estate planning, you may also handle probate proceedings, guardianship cases, and conservatorships, offering comprehensive legal support during times of transition or incapacity.


The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Minnesota estate and tax law, excellent communication skills, and a client-first mindset.


Compensation:

$90,000 yearly

Responsibilities:

Client Consultation and Strategy

  • Meet with clients to understand their estate planning goals and determine key priorities.
  • Advise clients on available planning tools, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and related options.
  • Develop tailored estate plans that align with each client’s personal situation, financial assets, and long-term objectives.

Document Drafting and Review

  • Draft and review legal instruments such as wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, financial and healthcare powers of attorney, and advance healthcare directives.
  • Ensure all documents accurately reflect the client’s intentions and meet applicable legal and regulatory standards.

Legal Research and Compliance

  • Stay current on developments in estate planning law, tax regulations, and probate procedures.
  • Perform comprehensive research on advanced topics, including estate and gift taxation, wealth transfer strategies, and asset protection planning.

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients and their families.
  • Collaborate with financial advisors, accountants, and other professionals to deliver cohesive, well-rounded estate planning strategies.
Qualifications:
  • Four-year university degree and a Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school are required.
  • Active license to practice law in Minnesota.
  • 2+ years of experience in estate planning and/or estate administration.
  • Experience in client-facing legal work.
  • Experience working with high-net-worth clients and/or business succession preferred.
