Strickland Law Group, a family owned boutique law firm located in Petaluma, CA is looking to hire an experienced paralegal to join our Estate Planning and Civil Litigation practice groups. The position will be initially covering for an existing Estate Planning paralegal while she is out on maternity leave, and then transitioning to fully support the Civil Litigation group thereafter. The prospective team member should have experience and general knowledge of Estate Planning as well as Civil Litigation. Active Notary Public Commission and prior experience with Clio Case Management System are both strongly preferred.

Estate Planning Paralegal Coverage Responsibilities:
- Drafting legal documents including Revocable and Irrevocable Trusts, Wills, Durable Power of Attorney documents, Advance Health Care Directives and HIPAA Authorizations, and other estate planning documents including claims forms, change of beneficiary forms, grant deeds, assessor documents, and transactional documents to assist clients with proper trust funding;
- Client interviews and updates;
- Legal research and presentation;
- Communicating with Financial Institutions and Advisors regarding Trust Funding;
Civil Litigation Paralegal Responsibilities:
- Work directly with clients to gather information, respond to discovery, propound discovery, and provide case updates.
- Draft, organize, and manage pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents for filing with the court.
- Handle court filings, service of process, and trial preparation.
- Communicate professionally with opposing counsel, experts, and service providers.
- Obtain, review, and organize medical records by working directly with medical providers and clients to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Maintain organized case files, both digital and physical, using Clio case management software and the firm’s electronic filing system.
- Prepare and send mailings, assemble pleadings, and manage document tracking.
- Collaborate closely with the attorney and broader team to ensure smooth case progression.
General Paralegal Responsibilities:
- Covering front office when other administrative staff is on break or absent;
- Ensure front office, desk and files are maintained in a tidy and organized manner;
- Organize case files and tasks for ease of use;
- Scheduling client meetings, client phone calls, and client signing appointments;
- Perform clerical duties including filing, photocopying and scanning as needed;
- Prepare legal documents for signings and facilitate signing appointments.
Applicant Requirements:
- Proven work experience as a Paralegal including a minimum of 2 years work experience, and/or Paralegal Certification
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficiency in working with Apple Computers
- Hands-on experience with office equipment (e.g. printers, scanners, and computers)
- Professional attitude and appearance
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
- Excellent organizational skills including desire to maintain a neat and tidy office area and file management
- Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
- Customer service and team player attitude
- Bachelor's Degree or Associate's Degree and Paralegal Certification

- Experience with Clio Case Management Software
- Experience with legal drafting software
- Active Notary Public Commission
