Welcome to the Farr Law Firm, a boutique and nationally-known Elder Law and Estate Planning Firm serving clients in Virginia, Maryland, and DC. Our main office is in Fairfax City, Virginia, with a satellite office in Fredericksburg, VA, and meeting locations in Rockville, MD, Annapolis, MD, and Washington, DC. We seek a full-time Estate Planning Attorney/Elder Law Attorney to work primarily in our Fairfax, Virginia office, with a willingness to travel approximately one day per week to our Fredericksburg office and occasionally to our other meeting locations.

Virginia Bar Admission required; DC and MD Bar highly desired, or UBE score high enough to waive into DC and Maryland. Experience is not required but very helpful (the more, the better), and compensation will be based on experience, with ample room for advancement. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys daily interactions with clients and can handle a diverse caseload from start to finish with minimal guidance.

Duties will include all phases of Estate Planning:

  • Meeting with potential new clients in person and via Zoom
  • Drafting documents using HotDocs and our firm’s drafting system
  • Supervising the signing of documents and the funding of trusts
  • Assisting with Elder Law and Medicaid Planning issues
  • Potential to assist with high-end Medicaid Crisis Planning

Before applying, please review our website at www.FarrLawFirm.com to get a decent understanding of what our firm does. Specifically, please review the topics about revocable living trusts and the Living Trust Plus Asset Protection Trust, both of which will consume a large part of your drafting time.

The Position:
This position is for you if you have a passion for helping people and seek the opportunity to start an exciting and fulfilling career of service to others, or if you seek to take your practice to a new level by being mentored by experienced and successful attorneys, and perfecting the skill to successfully attract and engage quality clients, all within an environment that encourages independence and a great work-life balance.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and comes with generous bonuses and time off. We have a very family-friendly and pet-friendly environment. Benefits include excellent health insurance, SIMPLE IRA participation with firm 3% matching, and payment of all bar dues and approved CLE education. Engagement in the community and professional development is encouraged and supported by the firm, but not required because of our existing high case volume. This position is for an attorney seeking a successful and rewarding career with our firm, not just a job or a stepping stone.

  • Trustworthy and ethical

  • A minimum of one year of experience in estate planning and/or elder law, or a strong desire to start and devote your practice to these fields of law, or switch to this field from another area of law
  • A positive attitude and the ability to communicate clearly, compassionately, and empathetically with clients and team members
  • A friendly, courteous, and professional demeanor
  • A commitment to quality, critical thinking, focus, and consistent follow-through with clients and team members
  • The ability to prioritize and organize your workflow and throughput
  • The drive to be a self-starter while also remaining adept at taking directions
