Position Overview
We are seeking a Legal Assistant who is highly organized and detail-oriented, enjoys working with clients, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This role primarily supports the Estate Planning & Probate group partners. Professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail are essential.
Requirements
- Prior experience as a legal assistant/secretary is highly desired. Candidates with professional office support experience will be considered.
Position Details
- Full-time; 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (unpaid hour lunch). Overtime may be required based on workload and deadlines.
- Primarily supports the Estate Planning & Probate group, with potential assignments across other practice areas.
Responsibilities
- Assist with wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other related estate planning documents.
- Coordinate calendars, schedule appointments, answer multiple telephone lines, and correspond with clients.
- Draft and edit emails/letters to clients and outside contacts.
- Maintain accurate and organized files, including opening new files, running conflict checks, and closing files.
- Track client matters
- Perform electronic filing of court documents as needed; scan documents and edit PDFs.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and proofreading skills.
- Professional client-service mindset; comfortable interacting with clients and other professionals.
- Ability to prioritize and manage competing deadlines while supporting multiple people/tasks.
- Demonstrated discretion and sound judgment with confidential and sensitive information.
- Proficiency in Outlook and MS Word; Excel/PowerPoint experience.
- Familiarity with (or ability to quickly learn) using document management systems.
- Accurate typing speed of 60–80 WPM.
