Estate Planning/Probate Paralegal

Overview
Simpson Colin, LLC is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Estate Planning and Probate Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team. In this role, you will provide essential support in managing estate planning and probate matters, ensuring smooth case progression from initial client consultation through to estate settlement. Your expertise will help clients navigate complex legal processes with confidence, while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and efficiency. Duties

  • Assist attorneys with drafting estate planning documents such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance healthcare directives
  • Manage probate case files from initiation through completion, including filing petitions, notices, and court documents
  • Conduct legal research across various practice areas including estate law.
  • Review and organize legal documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable laws
  • Coordinate with clients to gather necessary information through interviews and document requests
  • Maintain legal case management software to ensure seamless document flow and record keeping
  • Support administrative functions including data entry, filing, document review, proofreading, transcription, and general clerical tasks

Requirements

  • Proven paralegal experience with a focus on estate planning and probate law
  • Paralegal certification a plus
  • Work with attorneys to draft deeds or other documents necessary to settle estates
  • Strong knowledge of estate planning strategies and probate procedures
  • Proficiency with legal case management software a plus
  • Excellent research skills utilizing Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools
  • Ability to draft clear legal documents with precision and attention to detail
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously
  • Effective communication skills for interviewing clients and coordinating with team members
  • Knowledge of additional practice areas is a plus but not required
  • Strong administrative skills including data entry, filing systems, phone etiquette, proofreading, transcription and document management systems
