Job Summary:

The Estimating Coordinator for the Countertop Division supports the estimating and operational processes of the countertop department by assisting with project takeoffs, reviewing drawings, preparing cost estimates, and coordinating technical documentation. This role contributes to the accurate preparation of quotations and helps ensure project information is properly organized for fabrication and installation teams.

The Estimating Coordinator works through all phases of a project—from estimating and plan review through field measurement coordination and preparation for production. The position collaborates closely with the Division Coordinator, Estimator, fabrication team, and operations staff to support the smooth transition of projects from estimating to production.

Key Responsibilities:

Estimating Support

  • Assist in preparing cost estimates and quotations for countertop projects.
  • Review architectural drawings, cabinet layouts, and project plans to identify countertop scope.
  • Perform material takeoffs, calculating square footage, slab requirements, backsplashes, edge profiles, and cutouts.
  • Assist in determining material quantities and fabrication/installation requirements.
  • Update estimates when project drawings or scope revisions occur.

Drawings & Technical Documentation

  • Assist in preparing countertop layout drawings based on plans or measurements.
  • Support the development of shop drawings and technical layouts for fabrication and installation reference.
  • Assist in identifying seam locations, edge profiles, backsplashes, and fixture cutouts.
  • Review drawings for accuracy before submitting them internally for production preparation.
  • Maintain organized digital files for drawings, revisions, and technical documents.

Material & Slab Planning Support

  • Assist in calculating slab quantities and yield requirements based on project layouts.
  • Support review of material specifications including stone type, thickness, and finish.
  • Assist with slab layout planning when required for fabrication preparation.
  • Coordinate internally to verify material availability prior to project scheduling.

Collaboration & Coordination

  • Work closely with the Division Coordinator, Estimator, fabrication team, and operations staff.
  • Support coordination between estimating, field measurement, production, and installation teams.
  • Help ensure project documentation is accurate and accessible for downstream teams.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Associate’s degree or technical training in Construction Management, Architectural Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Certificate or coursework in CAD drafting, construction estimating, or building technology.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

· Experience in construction estimating, millwork, cabinetry, or countertop fabrication preferred.

· Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and construction plans.

· Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar drafting software is a plus.

· Strong organizational and communication skills.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office particularly with Excel and estimating software.

· Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

· Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer reviewing plans, preparing estimates, and developing drawings.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around job sites or fabrication areas when reviewing layouts or assisting with field measurements.
  • Ability to climb stairs, bend, kneel, and reach as needed when reviewing installation areas or taking measurements.
  • Ability to lift or carry materials and samples up to approximately 25 pounds (such as stone samples, drawings, or project documents).
  • Ability to travel occasionally to job sites for field verification or measurement.
