Job Summary:
The Estimating Engineer (Non-Structural) is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and tender submissions for non-structural works including architectural steel, façade systems, cladding, handrails, glass, and related metal works. The role ensures competitive pricing while maintaining project profitability and compliance with project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:1. Tender & Bid Management
- Review tender documents, drawings, BOQs, and specifications.
- Identify scope of work and highlight discrepancies or ambiguities.
- Prepare RFIs (Requests for Information) during tender stage.
2. Quantity Take-Off
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs from drawings for non-structural components.
- Verify BOQ quantities and prepare internal measurement sheets.
- Coordinate with drafting team for clarification if required.
3. Cost Estimation
- Prepare detailed cost estimates including material, labor, fabrication, installation, transportation, and subcontract costs.
- Analyze project risks and incorporate contingencies.
- Ensure alignment with company profit margin targets.
4. Supplier & Subcontractor Coordination
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Negotiate pricing to achieve competitive rates.
- Maintain updated vendor database.
5. Pricing & Rate Analysis
- Prepare rate analysis for new or variation items.
- Develop cost breakdown sheets.
- Assist in value engineering proposals.
6. Technical Review
- Study architectural and IFC drawings to understand project requirements.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
- Coordinate with design and engineering teams for technical inputs.
7. Tender Submission Preparation
- Compile commercial and technical submission documents.
- Prepare pricing summaries and management approval sheets.
- Submit tenders within deadline.
8. Variation & Change Order Pricing
- Evaluate variation orders and prepare cost impact analysis.
- Support project team with pricing of additional works.
9. Market Analysis
- Monitor market material price trends (steel, aluminum, glass, etc.).
- Update internal cost database periodically.
10. Post-Award Handover
- Conduct detailed handover meetings with project team.
- Provide cost breakdown and assumptions to execution team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Civil Engineering or related field.
- 2–3 years of experience in estimating non-structural or architectural metal works.
- Experience in UAE/GCC market preferred.
Skills Required:
- Strong knowledge of façade / architectural metal systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and quantity take-off software.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work under tender deadlines.
