Role Description -
The Project Manager / Estimating Manager at HASSCO, a HASSCOGROUP Company is a dynamic, multi-faceted leadership role requiring a high level of organization, collaboration, and accountability. This position is responsible for overseeing the estimating function while also managing project execution from bid through completion.
This role leads the estimating team to produce timely, accurate, and competitive bids and proposals, while also managing field crews, project schedules, procurement, pay estimates, billing, and collections. The Project Manager / Estimating Manager ensures projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within scope, while supporting company growth and maintaining strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities-
Estimating Team Leadership:
- Lead, manage, and mentor the estimating team to ensure consistent, accurate, and timely bid submissions
- Assign estimating tasks and manage workloads to meet bid deadlines
- Review and approve estimates, takeoffs, and proposals for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards
- Develop and maintain estimating procedures, pricing databases, and historical cost information
- Coordinate estimating efforts with project management and field operations to ensure constructability and alignment
Bid Preparation:
- Gather and review bid opportunities
- Visit project sites to evaluate conditions and secure necessary documentation
- Accurately estimate project costs, including labor, materials, equipment, and timelines
Technical Proficiency:
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements
- Utilize spreadsheets, bidding software, and critical path scheduling tools
- Perform detailed takeoffs and calculations, including percentages, area, volume, and proportions
Collaboration:
- Coordinate with management on bid strategy, risk assessment, and project feasibility
- Prepare bid presentations and ensure all submission deadlines are met
Vendor Relations:
- Research and negotiate competitive pricing for materials and equipment
- Analyze supplier and subcontractor proposals for cost efficiency and accuracy
Business Development:
- Actively pursue new business opportunities and projects
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers
Pre-Project Activities:
- Conduct site visits to gather project details
- Participate in pre-bid and pre-construction meetings
- Review contract documents and ensure compliance with all requirements
- Develop and process Change Orders in collaboration with management
Project Coordination:
- Oversee field operations to ensure safety, efficiency, and adherence to timelines
- Schedule testing and monitoring procedures and ensure timely report submissions
- Identify and resolve project issues collaboratively with management
Health and Safety:
- Enforce all HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) rules
- Manage incident reporting and remediation in the event of work-related accidents
Resource Management:
- Schedule and track personnel, equipment, and materials usage
- Secure project materials and oversee timely deliveries
- Ensure efficient allocation of resources to meet contract requirements and deadlines
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation
- Prepare and submit invoices and pay applications and ensure payment accuracy
- Assist with collections as necessary
Work Environment -
The position requires adaptability to varying environmental and physical demands, including:
- Frequent use of computers and office equipment requiring finger dexterity
- Occasional physical effort, such as handling objects up to 30 pounds
- Exposure to occupational risks (e.g., minor cuts) and environmental factors (e.g., dirt, odors, noise, and weather extremes)
- May require occasional travel, primarily local or day trips, to project sites, meetings, or pre-bid activities
Pay: $66,542.52 - $120,000.00 per year
