Estimation & Design Engineer — Lighting (UAE)

Build Station is seeking a detail-oriented Estimation & Design Engineer – Lighting to support our project and sales teams across architectural and technical lighting projects in the UAE. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on design capability, solid costing experience, and a practical understanding of lighting products and specifications.

Key Responsibilities• Review architectural drawings, RCPs, specifications, and client requirements• Prepare accurate, competitive lighting proposals and quotations• Liaise with lighting vendors and suppliers for product selection, pricing, and technical data• Prepare BOQs, apply costing factors, and issue precise, on-time quotations• Produce technical submittals in line with project and consultant requirements• Perform lighting design and lux calculations using DIALux / Relux• Carry out quantity take-offs using AutoCAD• Support the Project Manager during bidding, post-bid, and execution stages• Attend occasional site visits and coordination meetings as required

Technical & Professional Requirements• Minimum 3+ years of experience in lighting estimation and design (UAE experience preferred)• Strong working knowledge of lighting brands and vendors common in the UAE• Hands-on experience with luminaires, optics/beam angles, accessories (honeycomb, lenses), drivers/PSUs, and IP/IK ratings• Ability to read and interpret architectural and reflected ceiling plans (RCPs)• Confident spoken English with clear technical communication• Strong Excel skills, including formulas (not just formatting)• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet tight deadlines
