Role Description Position Overview

We are seeking a detail oriented and technically skilled Estimation Engineer to join our team in the water and wastewater treatment industry. The Estimation Engineer will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project specifications, and ensuring competitive, compliant, and profitable bids. This role requires close collaboration with sales, design, procurement, production, and project management teams to deliver high quality proposals and support successful project execution.

Organizational Context

• Reports functionally to the TPS Technical Manager and the TPS Sales Director.
• Works in close coordination with the KMI (sister company) Estimation Team.
• Plays a key role in enabling accurate financial decision making through production costing analysis and development of cost effective production plans.

Departmental & Functional Duties

• Manage the inquiry process, including quantitative analysis, financial costing, and review of technical specifications.
• Liaise with vendors to negotiate technical requirements, pricing, and delivery conditions.
• Propose solutions that comply with project requirements while aligning with internal production and fabrication capabilities.
• Prepare, update, and revise offers promptly when requested by Sales; coordinate with Production to confirm accurate delivery lead times.
• Participate in technical meetings with clients during early project stages.
• Coordinate with the supply chain team to maintain accurate and up to date material costs.
• Study tender documents thoroughly, ensuring full technical and contractual compliance.
• Maintain complete records for each order, ensuring clear traceability of revisions, communications, and commercial decisions.
• Collaborate with Sales and Engineering teams during design and revision phases to ensure technical and commercial feasibility.
• Monitor daily tasks and ensure that performance targets align with monthly departmental objectives.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying inefficiencies, cost saving opportunities, and process enhancements.
• Support the development of standard BOQs, pricing templates, and estimation tools.
• Analytical & Numerical Ability - Skilled in interpreting specifications, drawings, and calculating precise costs.
• Technical Knowledge - Strong understanding of fabrication methods, materials, water/wastewater equipment, and production processes.
• Financial Acumen - Ability to perform accurate costing, profitability analysis, and pricing structuring.
• Attention to Detail - Ensures accuracy and consistency in estimates, tenders, and technical proposals.
• Negotiation Skills - Effective in securing competitive and compliant quotations from vendors.
• Communication Skills - Clear and professional interaction with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Time Management - Capable of handling multiple inquiries and meeting strict tender deadlines.
• Collaboration & Teamwork - Strong coordination between TPS (sales), KMI (fabrication), engineering, and procurement.
• Problem Solving - Able to identify risks, clarify unclear requirements, and propose viable solutions.
• Software Proficiency - Competent in MS Excel, ERP/estimation software, AutoCAD, and other tools for interpreting technical drawings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 2-5 years of experience in estimation, preferably within the water/wastewater treatment, mechanical fabrication, or industrial equipment sectors.
• Strong knowledge of water treatment systems, including pumps, valves, stainless steel tanks, gates, membranes, and related equipment.
• Familiarity with relevant standards such as AWWA, ASTM, API, SASO, and project specifications used by major clients (e.g., Marafiq, SWCC, National Water Company).
• Experience working with EPC contractors, consultants, or government tenders is an advantage.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, AutoCAD, ERP systems, and other estimation related tools.
• Strong command of English (written and spoken); Arabic is an advantage.
