Estimator - Commercial Roofing

Technique Roofing is a family-owned and operated commercial roofing company headquartered in Helena, serving customers across Ohio and surrounding states. As part of the Skybound Service Partners platform, Technique is growing rapidly and investing in the people and infrastructure to support that growth. We are looking for a sharp, detail-oriented estimator to help us win more of the right work and price it accurately from day one.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Commercial Roofing Estimator is responsible for producing accurate, competitive, and timely estimates for reroof and service work across Technique's territory. This role owns the full estimating process from site visit through proposal delivery, partnering closely with the sales team, project managers, and the Operations Manager to ensure each bid reflects the true scope, the right materials, and a defensible margin. The right candidate is a detail-oriented problem solver who knows commercial roof systems, can read a roof in person and on plans, and takes pride in turning around clean, professional proposals that help Technique win the right work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct rooftop site visits, take field measurements, and assess existing conditions for reroof and service estimates across EPDM, PVC, TPO, BUR, Modified Bitumen, low-slope metal, and coatings systems.
• Review architectural plans, specifications, and bid documents to develop accurate quantity takeoffs and complete scope of work definitions.
• Build detailed estimates for both reroof projects and service work, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, and appropriate margin to support profitable, competitive bids.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing for Duro-Last and other specified materials, coatings, sheet metal, and ancillary trades.
• Prepare clear, professional proposals and bid packages and present them to building owners, facility managers, general contractors, and property managers as needed.
• Conduct handoff meetings with project managers and field leadership after award to ensure scope, materials, schedule assumptions, and budget are clearly understood by the team executing the work.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Experience

• 3 to 5 years of commercial roofing estimating experience, with exposure to both reroof and service work.
• Strong working knowledge of commercial roofing systems including EPDM, PVC, TPO, BUR, Modified Bitumen, low-slope metal, and roof coatings; experience with Duro-Last preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to perform accurate quantity takeoffs and produce detailed, defensible estimates.
• Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software (e.g., Edge, PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, eTakeoff, or similar) and strong Excel skills.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, specifications, and bid documents.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present proposals to customers, general contractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Valid driver's license required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to safely access and walk commercial roofs, including climbing ladders and working at heights.
• Ability to carry measuring tools and equipment up to 25 pounds during site visits.
• Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, and varying weather conditions during site visits.
• Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for extended periods during estimate development.
