The Estimator is responsible for coordinating with internal employees, clients, specifying engineers, general contractors, and vendors to develop accurate and competitive project estimates. This role manages the full estimating process—from initial review of plans and specifications to final proposal submission—and ensures a smooth workflow throughout the division. The position reports to Estimating Department management and provides direct supervision and guidance to the existing estimating assistant.
Work closely with other estimators, business development managers, project managers, construction managers, engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on their understanding of the scope-of-work, changes, RFI’s, and adjustments to cost estimates prior to proposal
Perform quantity takeoff surveys, attend pre-bid meetings, provide detailed information to management and peer review team in finalizing estimates and proposals.
Analyze requests for proposals, plans, amendments, and other documentation to determine scope of work and content to establish costs, preparation time, schedules, materials, design and labor estimates and review all documentation for accuracy and competitive bidding
Consult with clients, vendors, and construction team members to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve problems
Maintain the integrity of the company directory of manufacturers, suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors
Coordinate efforts with project managers to develop work crews and production rates for performance of required tasks and the maintenance of the database of actual direct and indirect costs for comparison (i.e. comparison of estimates to “as performed” similar work)
Support and promote best practices for Valcourt’s safety program.
Coordinate internal and external resources to expedite workflow
Manage communication between upper management and employees in regard to active estimates and opportunities
Performs other duties as assigned.
Specific experience in waterproofing, masonry and concrete repair/restoration preferred.
Familiar with the procurement of construction services, contract award and buy-out, authoring of RFI’s, AIA industry- standard documents and exhibits, and development of appropriate contract documents.
Familiarity with accepted industry practices, materials and techniques, knowledge of common and general code requirements,

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
