osition Summary:
The Estimator I position (LSS Specialist I) helps develop LSS Solutions for industrial customers. The estimator develops most effective system concepts, scopes of work and cost analysis/TIC estimates. Technical consultation for internal and external customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Include the following. Other duties may be assigned)
- Evaluate RFQ's to determine best solution to meet the requirements and provide proposal and bid based on that solution.
- Prepare and attend LSS RFQ Pre-bid meetings
- Meet with new and existing customers to determine best equipment, systems, and solution to meet their LSS Systems' needs.
- Work with industrial customers to develop LSS Systems Scopes of Work
- Technical resource for LSS Service Groups and Installation Groups
- Perform GAP Analysis
- Develop LSS Scope of Work based on GAP Analysis/Surveys
- Develop TIC Estimates based on GAP Analysis/Surveys
- Manage customer expectations regarding proposals and designs
- Develop Preliminary Project Schedules to convey plan for the project and how we plan to meet customers' completion dates
- Work with LSS manufactures to coordinate Life Safety Systems product and quotation strategies.
- Assist LSS Design team on all awarded project orders.
- Review LSS designs to be sure VSS provides what the LSS Specialist quoted, customer requested.
- Conduct field surveys as needed for “Request For Quotations” RFQ and conceptual designs

Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
- 1-3 years related industrial technical sales experience and/or training; or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- State Licensed and/or NICET Certified in applicable discipline
- Factory Trained in VSS Product Lines or willing to attend trainings
- Experience and knowledgeable in all areas regarding Water-based, Special Hazards & Fire Alarm & Detection Systems
- Competent is estimating programs (Word, Excel, Microsoft Project)
- Knowledge and understanding of applicable NFPA Standards (NFPA 10, 11, 12, 13, 15, 20, 24, 25, 72, 101, and 2000).
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and with little supervision
- Must demonstrate good time management skills
- Must possess excellent customer service skills
- Must possess a proactive and positive team approach to problem resolution
- Must have the ability to establish strong working relationships with customers, co-workers, and management
- Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Must be capable of creating simple project schedules
