Estimator (Sheet metalwork/fabrication)

Overview

The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for projects, products, or services by analysing technical requirements, drawings, and specifications. The role supports decision-making, quote submissions, and project planning to ensure competitiveness and profitability.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator to join our manufacturing team.

Responsibilities

• Quote Preparation: Create accurate, detailed quotations from customer specifictions, CAD data, and engineering drawings.
• Cost Calculation: Determine material costs, CNC machine time (laser, press brake), labour hours, welding, and finishing.
• Technical Analysis: Review drawings for manufacturability (Design for Manufacture) to identify cost-reduction opportunities and technical constraints.
• Supplier Liaison: Obtain competitive pricing from subcontractors for materials and outside processes.
• Customer Communication: Manage tender submissions, follow up on quotes to secure orders, and build client relationships.

Experience

• Proven experience in metal fabrication or related manufacturing roles is preferred.
• Strong presentation skills for internal reporting or client demonstrations.
• Customer service experience is advantageous for roles involving client interaction or project coordination.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, to facilitate effective teamwork.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel) for documentation and reporting purposes.
• Technical Expertise - Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and 2D/3D CAD models (e.g., Radan, AutoCAD, Inventor).
• Industry Knowledge - Detailed understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes: laser cutting, CNC punching, folding, welding and finishing.
• Familiarity with SAP B1 would be an advantage.
• Good IT skills with the ability to utilise organisational tools efficiently.
• Strong time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively within fast-paced environments.

Pay: £42,000.00-£48,000.00 per year
