ETL Data Engineer

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented ETL Data Engineer to join our data team and drive the development of robust data pipelines. Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize ETL workflows to extract, transform, and load large volumes of data from multiple sources including cloud platforms like AWS and Azure Data Lake.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and translate them into efficient data pipelines using tools such as Informatica, Talend, Apache Hive, Spark, and Shell Scripting.
  • Implement best practices for database design and data modeling within data warehouses utilizing Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and other relational databases.
  • Develop automated processes using Python, VBA, Bash (Unix shell), and RESTful APIs to ensure reliable data ingestion and transformation.
  • Monitor pipeline performance, troubleshoot issues promptly, and optimize workflows for speed and accuracy.
  • Support big data initiatives by working with Hadoop ecosystems and analyzing large datasets to derive meaningful insights.
  • Assist in the integration of linked data sources to enhance data richness and connectivity across platforms.
  • Participate in Agile development cycles to continuously improve data solutions aligned with evolving business needs.
  • Contribute to analytics efforts by providing clean, well-structured datasets for analysis skills development and model training.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an ETL Data Engineer or similar role with a strong understanding of data pipeline architecture.
  • Proficiency in SQL programming with extensive experience in Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or similar relational databases.
  • Hands-on expertise with cloud platforms such as AWS (Amazon Web Services) and Azure Data Lake for scalable storage solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of big data technologies including Hadoop ecosystem components like Apache Hive and Spark.
  • Experience working with ETL tools such as Informatica or Talend for efficient data integration workflows.
  • Programming skills in Python, Java, VBA or Bash (Unix shell) for automation and scripting purposes.
  • Familiarity with RESTful API integrations to facilitate seamless data exchange between systems.
  • Understanding of database design principles and data warehouse concepts to support analytics initiatives effectively.
  • Knowledge of analysis skills necessary for troubleshooting pipeline issues and optimizing performance.
  • Experience working within Agile teams to deliver iterative improvements on complex projects.
  • Additional desirable skills include Shell Scripting, Model training techniques, Looker BI platform familiarity, Hadoop ecosystem knowledge, Apache Hive expertise, Spark processing capabilities, SQL analysis skills, VBA scripting proficiency, Shell scripting on Unix systems, and general analytics expertise.
