Responsibilities

• Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system efficiently to process sales, returns, and exchanges with accuracy and speed
• Handle cash, credit, and debit transactions while maintaining proper cash handling procedures
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting shoppers, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries or demos
• Maintain cleanliness and organization at the checkout area, including merchandising and stocking shelves as needed
• Upsell products or promotions to enhance customer satisfaction and increase sales opportunities
• Ensure compliance with store policies on phone etiquette and customer interactions
• Support team members with basic retail math calculations for transactions and inventory checks

Skills

• Proven experience in cashiering or retail sales, preferably in a grocery store or similar environment
• Strong communication skills, including bilingual abilities to serve diverse customers effectively
• Familiarity with POS systems and cash handling procedures
• Supervising experience is a plus, demonstrating leadership during shift operations
• Ability to perform retail math accurately for transactions and inventory management
• Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor
• Knowledge of merchandising, stocking, and product demos to assist customers confidently
• Basic math skills for managing cash registers and balancing drawers efficiently
• Professional phone etiquette when interacting with customers over the phone or in person
