Part-Time Evening Beginner English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Teacher

REPORTS TO: Assistant Director of Curriculum and Instruction

QUALIFICATIONS: a. Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required;

Masters degree preferred

b. 3 – 5 years English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) teaching experience preferred

c. Experience working with a diverse adult population (16+ yrs old) with complex socio-economic needs

d. Able to demonstrate experience with effective lesson planning, scaffolding, differentiated instruction, formative assessment and student engagement

e. Proficient in use of Google Suite with strong technological aptitude

POSITION SUMMARY: The Evening Beginner ESOL classroom teacher will be responsible for providing simultaneous Second Language Acquisition Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening instruction to in-person and remote students, evaluating student progress, and adjusting instruction based on formative assessment outcomes. Teachers will accomplish this by drawing upon professional knowledge, research, and standards to respond to the needs of every student within their educational context. Teachers will work together with the Assistant Director of Curriculum and Instruction and Advisors to optimize student progress towards academic and personal goals. This position requires teachers to teach to in-person and remote students in Webster on Tuesday and Thursday evenings 5:00PM-8:30PM.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

Meets or exceeds program-based performance measures.

Draws upon and applies the knowledge detailed in the Massachusetts Proficiency Guides for Teachers of Adult Education.

Prepares and electronically submits standards based lesson plans aligned to the program curriculum to the director no later than one hour before class begins for each class session.

Implements reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities who are otherwise qualified to perform the essential functions.

Sets and achieves student learning and professional practice goals.

Collaborates as a team member with all staff to foster an environment for improved academic and personal outcomes for every student.

Participates in a variety of high-quality professional development activities to refine and expand teaching practices based on program-designed self-assessment.

h. Meets all reporting deadlines and attends all scheduled meetings, pre/post week

trainings, and all on-site professional development offerings.

i. Assists with safety policies and procedures for staff and students.

j. Fulfills other duties as assigned by Director of Operations/Assistant Director.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $29.00 per hour

Expected hours: 11 per week
