As a Shift Lead, you will support the Resident Care Director and lead your team by example while ensuring residents receive compassionate, person-centered care.
- Lead and support Resident Assistants during assigned shift
- Assign daily care responsibilities and adjust assignments based on resident needs
- Promote teamwork and positive communication among care staff
- Provide real-time coaching to ensure quality care and safety standards are met
- Support onboarding and mentoring of new team members
- Assist with maintaining proper staffing coordination during shift
- Provide hands-on care and support to residents, including maintaining one care assignment
- Ensure care is delivered according to individualized care plans and documented accurately
- Respond promptly to resident call lights and requests for assistance
- Support a safe environment through proper infection control and safety practices
- Ensure residents’ needs are met through regular rounding
- Lead shift huddles and support smooth shift transitions
- Monitor completion of care tasks, laundry schedules, and daily routines
- Communicate shift updates and concerns to leadership team
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation in the resident care system
- Support compliance with community policies, procedures, and training requirements
- Support person-centered dementia care practices, including Positive Physical Approach
- Ensure residents’ nutritional needs are met during meals and snacks
- Assist with maintaining a safe and structured environment
- Experience working in senior living, caregiving, or medication assistance preferred
- Medication Technician certification (if applicable per state requirements)
- Demonstrated leadership ability or interest in growing into a leadership role
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Positive attitude and commitment to quality resident care
- Ability to support and mentor team members
- Must be in good standing if currently employed with The Arbor Company
