Event Bartender

Job Description: Rye Venue Management manages wedding and event spaces in West Michigan and is looking for a highly energetic, positive, and detail oriented person for the bartender role. We staff bartending services at different venues mostly local to Grand Rapids. Bar service itself generally revolves around shot and pops, wine, and beer, with easy cocktails like margaritas, mules, and old fashioneds. This position is great for someone who has a passion for the hospitality industry and loves interacting directly with guests!

Job Type & Pay Details: Part-time. Hours will vary but this is mostly a part-time position focused on Fridays and Saturdays, with weekday opportunities sprinkled in here and there. $16.00 per hour + tips.

Event Responsibilities:

• Preparing the bar service according to the client Banquet Event Order
• Setting up the bar area for service (i.e. backbar setup, stocking ice, glassware, alcohol, mixers, cutting fruit, etc.)
• Working under the guidance of the Manager on Duty and Lead Bartender for each event
• Provide positive, professional, guest-focused service in a busy bar setting
• Prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for guests
• Monitor guest consumption and serve responsibly
• Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies each shift
• Stay guest-focused and nurture a positive experience
• Complete opening and closing checklists each shift to company standards
• Assist event staff with tear down after events (moving tables, chairs, equipment, etc.)

Requirements:

• Saturday availability
• Previous experience as a bartender or barback (server experience considered)
• Ability to comfortably lift and move 30 pounds
• Ability to stand and move around for 8–10 hours
• Knowledge of POS systems and cash handling (Square experience preferred)
• Relevant certifications (TIPS, ServSafe, etc.— or willingness to obtain)
• A high level of professionalism and decorum while serving
• Compliance with all State and Federal laws regarding alcohol service
