Event Host (M.C. / Community Facilitator)

The Event Host is the voice, energy, and pastoral guide of Gospel Unplugged. You are responsible for anchoring the stage at Roulette, shifting the atmosphere, and moving the audience seamlessly between high-energy music and deep, authentic storytelling. This is not a traditional emcee gig; it requires a faith-grounded individual who can command a room with warmth, humor, and spiritual maturity.

Key Responsibilities

Depending on the flow of the live event, these responsibilities may include:

1. Stage Facilitation & Crowd Engagement

  • Opening the evening with a high-energy welcome that sets a culture of honor, vulnerability, and fellowship.
  • Introducing musical artists, poets, and storytellers with passion and professionalism.
  • Reading the room and keeping the audience engaged, responsive, and connected to the theme of the night.

2. Storytelling & Atmosphere Control

  • Guiding the transition moments between live performances and personal testimonies without losing the room's momentum.
  • Facilitating brief, impactful audience interactions or reflections from the stage.
  • Partnering with the production team to ensure the evening stays strictly on schedule.

3. Community & Sponsor Integration

  • Acknowledging local small business partners and digital activations naturally from the stage.
  • Inviting guests into the On-Site Fellowship hours with warmth and clear direction.

Requirements

  • Stage Experience: Proven track record hosting live events, panel discussions, or church ministries.
  • Social Proof Proof: You must tag us from your social media account in a video or post from a recent event you hosted so our team can review your on-stage presence.
  • Professional References: You must provide two professional references who can speak to your experience and reliability.
  • Faith Realignment: Must understand and comfortably navigate a faith-based environment, flowing naturally in language centered on community, purpose, and spiritual gifts.
  • Improvisation: Ability to think quickly on your feet if live production elements or schedules shift unexpectedly.
  • Availability: Must be available for the full duration of the required shift hours.

The "Host" Tool Kit

  • The Show Flow: A printed or digital copy of the minute-by-minute script and artist bios.
  • Preparation: Reviewing sponsor names and digital directory details prior to taking the stage.

Application Guidelines & Hiring PoliciesPlease review our strict application standards before submitting your materials:

Interview & Event Details

  • Interview Schedule: Virtual interviews will be held Monday through Friday at exactly 2:00 PM.
  • Event Schedule: The event takes place on Friday, July 24th. Mandatory shift hours are strictly from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
  • Venue Location: Roulette Intermedium, 509 Atlantic Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11217.
  • Dress Code: Professional attire required.

Pay: $45.00 per hour
