Position Title: Events Associate

Reports To: Dir. of Events

FLSA Status: Exempt - FT

Schedule: Monday through Friday (Hybrid eligible)

Location: Kids In Need Foundation Headquarters

Kids In Need Foundation (KINF) is a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to creating equitable learning environments for underserved students and teachers across the U.S. Our mission is to ensure that every Pre-K–12 student has the essential tools and resources they need to succeed in school. Through our distribution of school supplies, support for teachers, and investment in educational initiatives, we strive to make a meaningful impact on the lives of teachers and students across the country. As we continue to expand our reach and deepen our impact, we are seeking a talented, self-driven Coordinator to join our high-performing team.

Position Summary

The Events Associate plays a key role in advancing Kids In Need Foundation’s mission through the execution of impactful, community-driven events. Reporting to and working closely with the Events Director, this role contributes directly to the planning, coordination, and delivery of events that drive awareness, engagement, and philanthropic support.

This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of event components, engage directly with donors and partners, and play an integral role in bringing high-visibility events to life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and execution of mission-driven events aligned with organizational goals
  • Coordinate event logistics, including vendors, venues, catering, and audiovisual needs
  • Execute assigned event components from planning through on-site delivery
  • Assist in donor and partner engagement efforts, including outreach calls, follow-ups, and relationship coordination
  • Support and participate in soliciting in-kind and financial donations for events
  • Accurately document donor interactions, event participation, and contributions in Salesforce
  • Coordinate with school and corporate partners to support event participation and engagement
  • Manage timelines and task tracking for assigned events, ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met
  • Support execution of large scale events including Thanks a Million, including logistics, coordination, and day of operations
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications to support event invitations, materials, and attendee communications
  • Track event metrics including attendance, engagement, and donations received
  • Assist with post event reporting and identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Provide hands on, on site support including event setup and teardown

  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple timelines and priorities
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to take ownership of tasks and follow through
  • Comfort engaging donors and partners, including making outreach calls and asking for support
  • Strong relationship building and communication skills across diverse stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on timelines, execution, and accuracy
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to adapt quickly and respond effectively during live events
  • Ability to collaborate across teams, including Marketing and Communications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Nonprofit Management, Communications, or related field, or equivalent experience may substitute
  • 4 plus years of event planning, nonprofit, fundraising, or related experience
  • Productive time management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong relationship skills and people management experience.
  • Self-starter and proficient multi-tasker.
  • Strong attention to detail & timing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs; specifically, creating presentations and working with computer databases and spreadsheets.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Combination of office and on-site event work
  • Ability to sit for a long period of time
  • Occasional evenings and weekends required
  • Travel as required, including increased national travel during the Back-to-School season, approximately 2 to 3 months to support partner events
  • The role requires active participation in event setup and teardown, including the ability to lift and move materials up to 30 pounds (bending, lifting, twisting and stretching)

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range:

  • $50,000 - 55,000
