JOB
Under general supervision, the Supervisor – Evidence supervises the daily operational activities of the Evidence Unit in the storage and maintenance of evidence in a highly secure area to comply with statutory, accreditation and City policy requirements, priorities, time limitations and other specifications. Posted pay range is the starting salary. Pay rate offered is based on experience.The ideal candidate for this role is someone who excels at working with the public and communicates clearly, professionally, and with confidence. They understand the importance of accuracy, confidentiality, and maintaining a meticulous chain of custody within a law enforcement environment. Enjoys supporting a mission-focused team that serves the communitySupervise daily operations of the Evidence Unit, ensuring proper handling, processing, and filing of evidence.Maintain strict chain-of-custody standards, ensuring accuracy, security, and compliance with policy, accreditation, and statutory
requirements.Review staff work for quality, completeness, and adherence to procedures.Coordinate transfers, releases, and disposals of evidence for citizens, courts, and law enforcement personnel.Ensure secure storage, space availability, and correct placement of sensitive or high-value evidence.Oversee and maintain accurate records, logs, and reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual).Train new employees and help develop improvements to evidence-handling procedures.Serve as a resource to internal staff, officers, detectives, and the public regarding the disposition of property in police custody.
