The Anderson Company, LLC, a site development company for over 27 years is seeking a laborer on a dirt crew to join our dirt crews. The Dirt Crew Laborer supports site development and earthwork operations by performing a variety of manual labor tasks to assist equipment operators, foremen, and utility crews. Responsibilities include traffic control, spotting heavy equipment, directing truck traffic, excavation support, compaction activities, and utility exposure work. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and productive jobsite while ensuring work is completed according to project specifications and company standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform general labor duties to support grading, excavation, and site development operations.
- Safely flag and control traffic in accordance with approved traffic control plans and safety requirements.
- Direct dump trucks, delivery vehicles, and construction traffic entering and exiting the jobsite.
- Act as a spotter for heavy equipment operators to ensure safe operation around personnel, structures, utilities, and other equipment.
- Dig test pits to identify underground utilities and verify existing site conditions.
- Assist with locating, exposing, and protecting underground utility infrastructure.
- Operate walk-behind rollers, plate compactors, and other small equipment as assigned.
- Assist with trenching, backfilling, grading, and compaction activities.
- Perform hand digging around existing utilities when necessary to prevent damage.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas and assist with site housekeeping.
- Follow directions provided by the Foreman, Superintendent, or Operations manager
- Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous construction, utility, earthwork, or site development experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and active construction operations.
- Knowledge of traffic control procedures is preferred.
- Experience operating small compaction equipment is a plus.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
Work Capacity / Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and dusty environments.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and perform physical labor throughout the workday.
- Ability to dig manually using shovels and hand tools.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to work around moving vehicles, heavy equipment, and active excavation areas.
- Ability to maintain awareness of surroundings and communicate effectively in a noisy construction environment.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and travel to various jobsites as needed.
