Excavator/Equipment Operator

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Excavator/Equipment Operator to join our limestone quarry. In this vital role, you will operate heavy machinery such as excavators and/or loaders, and water trucks. Your expertise will ensure the safe, efficient, and precise movement of materials and equipment across diverse job sites. Responsibilities

  • Operate excavators and other heavy equipment including loaders, water trucks with precision and safety.
  • Perform routine inspections of equipment before and after use to ensure optimal functioning and safety compliance.
  • Assist in site preparation activities such as grading, trenching, lifting, and material handling to support quarry workflows.
  • Follow project plans and specifications accurately to execute tasks efficiently while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Coordinate with team members to schedule equipment usage and ensure smooth workflow across multiple tasks.
  • Maintain detailed records of equipment operation hours, maintenance needs, and safety checks.
  • Support site safety initiatives by identifying hazards and ensuring all machinery is operated in accordance with OSHA standards.
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials using appropriate machinery like loaders as needed.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment by communicating effectively and supporting colleagues in achieving project goals.

Skills

  • Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy construction equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, water trucks.
  • Proven experience operating excavators and other heavy machinery on construction sites with a focus on safety and efficiency.
  • Knowledge of mining/quarry site procedures including material handling, grading techniques, and site safety standards.
  • Excellent understanding of MSHA regulations related to heavy equipment operation and construction safety practices.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and supervisors.
