About Cook Foundation

The Cook Foundation nurtures and sponsors the arts in Gloucester, Virginia. We're a dynamic cultural organization enriching our community through art, exhibitions, and programming. We manage museum operations, coordinate the annual Gloucester Arts Festival, and collaborate with key regional partners.

The Role

We're seeking an Executive Assistant to provide essential administrative support to our leadership team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, professional, exhibits strong written and verbal communication skills, and thrives in a dynamic nonprofit environment.

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday: 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
  • Additional hours (evenings/weekends) during Gloucester Arts Festival and special events

What You'll Do

Administrative Support

  • Draft, review, and manage correspondence for Foundation leadership
  • Coordinate complex schedules, meetings, and engagements
  • Handle sensitive documents and communications with discretion

Financial & Communications

  • Code receipts and prepare reports for accounting team
  • Assist with social media content creation and publication for exhibitions and events
  • Support organizational communications

Special Events

  • Provide essential support during annual Gloucester Arts Festival
  • Assist with planning and execution of programs, openings, and community events

Backup Visitor Services

  • Cover museum front desk during docent breaks and absences

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Professional demeanor
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly
  • Proficiency with office software, scheduling tools, and basic equipment
  • Comfort handling confidential information
  • Basic bookkeeping: coding receipts and statements

Preferred

  • Nonprofit experience
  • Familiarity with database management and analytics tools
  • French language skills a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand/sit for extended periods
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs
  • Comfortable in indoor and occasional outdoor settings
