Job Duties

The Court of Appeals is seeking an executive assistant to provide critical support to the Clerk of Court, the Chief Deputy Clerk, and the Managing Deputy Clerk of Operations with regard to administrative, organizational, and case-related matters.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities


Responsibilities will encompass those activities necessary to provide these individuals with support to enable them to manage workflow. The position will involve complex, sensitive, and confidential matters.


Duties will include:

  • Assisting the Clerk, Chief Deputy Clerk, and Managing Deputy Clerk with administrative and organizational matters, including special projects for the Court;
  • Assisting the Clerk, Chief Deputy Clerk, and Managing Deputy Clerk with case matters as they arise;
  • Organizing and maintaining the Clerk’s files to ensure efficient management of pleadings pending before the Court;
  • Preparing Court documents and correspondence in accordance with established guidelines and judicial instructions;
  • Performing data entry in the Court’s case management system;
  • Preparing weekly and monthly statistical reports; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Some telework may be allowed at the discretion of the Clerk.


Minimum Qualifications

The most competitive candidates will possess:


  • Proficiency in word processing, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat is required
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills with an ability to anticipate needs before they arise
  • A team player capable of cultivating productive working relationships with colleagues and the public
  • Resourceful, can-do attitude and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and efficiently
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and perform special projects with attention to detail
  • Experience in office and information organization and management
  • Bachelor’s degree or at least four years of progressively responsible experience in a court, government, or law office preferred but not required.
