Location: New Orleans, LA (Hybrid)
Salary Range: $55,000–$60,000, depending on experience

O’Brien Garrett is looking for a smart, motivated early-career professional to support the CEO in fast-paced progressive politics, policy, and nonprofit consulting work. This role is ideal for someone who is curious, self-motivated, and resourceful, with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. The right candidate is proactive about asking questions, digging deeper, and consistently following up and following through to move work forward. A demonstrated commitment to mission-driven work is essential.

What You’ll Do

● Operations & Logistics

○ Track project progress and ensure deadlines, deliverables, and follow-ups are met across multiple workstreams

○ Coordinate meetings, events, and projects (e.g., scheduling, vendors, venues, travel, follow‑ups)

○ Translate ideas into clear action steps and timelines, with ownership over execution and follow-up

● Calendar & Meeting Support

○ Help manage the CEO’s calendar and priorities

○ Ensure the CEO is well prepared for meetings by coordinating across teams to compile agendas, gather relevant materials, and collect any additional context in advance.

● Research & Survey Support

○ Provide logistical support for research (e.g., pulling previous surveys, reviewing questionnaires, organizing materials)

○ Help organize and summarize research outputs, including drafting briefs, slide content, and key takeaways

○ Manage library of client case studies, research projects and other client related materials

● Communications & Relationships

○ Help manage the CEO’s network portfolio; track key relationships and follow‑ups

○ Draft professional emails and notes; ensure follow‑through

● Social Media & Public Presence

○ Support the management and growth of the CEO’s social media presence through content scheduling, engagement tracking, and opportunity identification

○ Turn conversations, client highlights, and emerging ideas into clear, compelling draft posts and content

○ Maintain a content calendar to ensure a consistent and timely online presence

● General Administrative Support

○ Prepare, format, and proofread documents, reports, and presentations

○ Maintain organized and up-to-date digital files, shared drives, and systems

○ Assist with data entry, list management, and record-keeping

○ Track materials, deadlines, and key information to support team coordination

○ Provide general administrative support to ensure smooth day-to-day operations

○ Coordinate the accurate submission of travel expenses and manage client billing

What We’re Looking For

We recognize that candidates may not bring experience in every area listed above. For this early-career role, we are looking for individuals who demonstrate strengths in several of these areas and a readiness to learn and grow.

● 1–3+ years of professional work experience, or equivalent experience demonstrating leadership and organizational responsibility (e.g., roles in school, athletics, community, or volunteer settings), with a strong understanding of managing schedules, timelines, communication, and follow-through.

● Demonstrated interest in politics, policy, campaigns, advocacy, or nonprofit work

● Progressive values and comfort in a progressive environment

● Highly proactive, resourceful, and organized with strong problem-solving skills

● Ability to manage multiple priorities and stay organized in a fast-paced environment

● Strong attention to detail and follow-through

● Proactive in asking for priorities and clarification, and confident in raising questions or sharing perspectives to ensure work moves forward effectively

● Strong written and verbal communication skills

● Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion

● Proficiency with Microsoft Office; comfortable learning new tools

● Preference for candidates with experience running social media accounts and working on a Mac

Work Setup

● Based in New Orleans with a hybrid schedule

● In‑person on days when the CEO is in the office; flexibility for work‑from‑home on other days

● This is a full-time role that generally operates during standard business hours, with occasional schedule flexibility required to support events, key projects, clients across time zones, and evolving needs during travel

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
