Executive Director
Missouri Shores Domestic Violence Center (MSDVC) is a 501c3 non-profit located in Pierre, SD. We are dedicated to ending domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking by responding to emergency needs and educating our community. This is a fast-paced environment with a compassionate, supportive atmosphere.
The Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of an emergency shelter and crisis center for victims of domestic and sexual violence. They work toward the Mission of Missouri Shores by supporting their staff and board. Due to the nature of the work, the Executive Director must be prepared to respond to emergencies that occur outside their regular working hours.
Executive Director Statement of Duties:
- Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to develop and maintain the annual budget, financial transactions, and fund development plans;
- Complete payroll and accounts payable, and ensure all payments are conducted within grant guidelines;
- Research and apply for new revenue streams to ensure the financial health of the organization;
- Prepare and submit grant funding applications and reports in a timely manner and with great attention to detail;
- Ensure compliance with all grant requirements in accordance with state and federal guidelines;
- Effectively lead a team of dedicated advocates by recruiting, training, and supervising in collaboration with the Client Services Supervisor while adhering to all employment policies and procedures;
- Manage a thirteen-member Board of Directors by organizing board agendas, meeting documents, and committee reports; coordinating board activities; and on-boarding new members;
- Create and maintain strong connections with partner agencies in the communities served by Missouri Shores, and across South Dakota;
- Assist with client intakes, protection orders, court hearings, and other support services for victims of domestic and sexual violence as needed;
- Must be on-call with the crisis phone one night per week, as well as some weekends and holidays;
- Ensure smooth daily operations by coordinating shelter maintenance and upkeep;
- Other duties as required.
Executive Director Qualifications:
- Experience with grant writing and financial management;
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate our Mission to donors and community partners, as well as empathize with those we serve;
- Self-starter with good discipline who can prioritize and juggle multiple projects;
- Ability to maintain confidentiality;
- Maintain composure and respond calmly in a crisis-driven environment;
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience.
Executive Director Requirements:
- Applicant must pass a pre-employment background check;
- Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license and have a reliable source of transportation;
- Applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
