Executive Director, Marketing & Communications

The Richmond Kickers and Richmond Ivy Soccer Club, located in Richmond, Va., are seeking an outgoing, driven, and collaborative teammate to join the organization as the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications. This position will lead a small MarComms team and report directly to the President & COO.
Primary Duties
- Create and lead content strategy across club social media channels, email/text marketing, and external media to meet club objectives. Produce engaging photo and video content in collaboration with the MarComms team.
- Lead the development, writing, editing, and distribution of a variety of club media materials, including press releases, social media posts, news articles, match notes, fact sheets, partnership pitches, player bios, and more.
- Oversee day-to-day media operations, ensuring storytelling efforts align with club business objectives.
- Cultivate media relationships in-market and organize club media opportunities for training sessions, games, and community events.
- Develop paid & organic marketing campaigns, public relations strategies, and new club initiatives in a cross-functional capacity that includes collaboration with Partnerships, Ticketing, and Retail departments. Drive growth in fan engagement and revenue.
- Manage gameday media operations and staffing.
- Update and maintain website assets.
- Availability to work all first-team home games and team training sessions at City Stadium; availability to work remotely for all away games. Other duties as assigned by the President & COO.
Qualifications
- 5 to 7 years experience in marketing, communications, and/or public relations strongly desired.
- Multilingual (Spanish preferred) abilities desired, but not required.
- Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite.
- Proficiency in social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube is preferred.
- Proficiency with the Google Suite and WordPress is preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and relationship skills. Experience managing full-time and part-time staff is preferred.
- Experience executing digital content and creative strategies to drive audience engagement.
- Excellent editing and proofreading skills required.
- Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality within a professional sports environment.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently on a variety of time-sensitive projects.
- Demonstrated ability of high performance in a fast-paced, team environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Knowledge of sports & soccer is required.
- Flexible schedule required, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time during gamedays and events.
