Job Overview
The Tipton County Solid Waste District is seeking a dynamic, motivated, and experienced individual to serve as Executive Director. This senior-level position is responsible for managing and coordinating all District programs and activities, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and supporting the efficient and cost-effective operation of recycling and solid waste services across Tipton County.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement solid waste goals, policies, and programs
- Oversee budgeting, expenditures, and compliance reporting
- Foster partnerships with public officials, contractors, and the public
- Supervise and lead District staff
- Present educational programming and serve as the District spokesperson
- Coordinate with the Board of Directors and Citizens Advisory Council
- Serve as the District’s legislative advocate when necessary
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent relevant experience preferred
- Strong understanding of solid waste management principles and regulatory frameworks
- Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in commonly used office software, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and financial management software such as QuickBooks.
- Experience in budget preparation and financial oversight
- Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Public speaking and grant writing experience are a plus
Working Conditions
This position requires work in both office and field environments, occasional evening and weekend hours, and limited travel. Emergency response availability is required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to $50,000.00 per year
