Job Description:

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Intern to join our Agribusiness team. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of agricultural industry. This role offers exposure to a fast-paced and innovative environment where you will work closely with our sales and marketing professionals to support our business objectives.

Role Overview

The Executive – Procurement (Agri Commodity) & Resource Development will be responsible for sourcing agricultural commodities, managing field-level procurement operations, and developing a strong network of farmers, FPOs, vendors, and field resources. The role ensures high-quality, cost-effective procurement while building sustainable relationships across the agriculture value chain. It also involves developing and training field partners, enabling efficient supply aggregation, and strengthening resource planning for ongoing agritech operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Agri Commodity Procurement

  • Identify and onboard farmers, FPOs/FPCs, aggregators, and traders for commodity sourcing.
  • Conduct market research to track commodity prices, demand patterns, and seasonal availability.
  • Negotiate procurement terms, quality parameters, and logistics with suppliers.
  • Ensure timely procurement of commodities such as fruits, vegetables, grains, spices, pulses, or any crop aligned with company operations.
  • Coordinate quality checks during procurement and ensure adherence to grading and standard specifications.
  • Support contract farming or buy-back arrangements with growers where applicable.

2. Field Resource Development & Network Expansion

  • Develop a robust field network including farmers, FPOs, community leaders, agri-input dealers, and rural micro-entrepreneurs.
  • Train and support field partners on procurement processes, quality parameters, and digital reporting tools.
  • Conduct field visits to assess crop readiness, farmer engagement, and resource availability.
  • Build a database of field resources to support sourcing, aggregation, and logistics operations.
  • Identify new sourcing clusters and build market linkages in potential agri-growing regions.

3. Supply Chain & Operational Support

  • Coordinate logistics, transportation, and last-mile pickup from sourcing locations to warehouses or processing centers.
  • Work closely with operations and quality teams to ensure a seamless procurement-to-delivery pipeline.
  • Assist in planning procurement volumes based on demand forecasts and operational needs.
  • Ensure minimal wastage, efficient handling, and cost-effective aggregation.

4. Stakeholder & Vendor Relationship Management

  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, farmers, FPO leaders, and local market stakeholders.
  • Conduct periodic supplier evaluations based on quality, reliability, and pricing.
  • Resolve field-level issues related to quality disputes, procurement delays, or logistics challenges.
  • Collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, or agri institutions for field-level resource development.

5. Resource Planning, Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain updated records of procurement volumes, sourcing locations, farmer databases, vendor details, and field activities.
  • Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports on procurement performance, price trends, and field resource development.
  • Ensure documentation compliance including purchase orders, agreements, receipts, and quality reports.
  • Use digital tools or ERP systems to log procurement and field data accurately.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Rural Development, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • MBA/PGDM in Agribusiness or Rural Management preferred.

Work Experience

  • 1–4 years of experience in agri commodity procurement, field sourcing, supply chain, or rural operations.
  • Experience working with farmers, FPOs, mandi operations, rural networks, or agritech companies is highly desirable.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of agri commodities, market dynamics, crop cycles, and quality standards.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with farmers and rural stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of mandi operations, auction systems, and procurement compliance.
  • Good analytical and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, procurement tools, and mobile-based field reporting apps.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to sourcing clusters.
