Executive Vice President, Finance and Operations

Industry, United States

Job Description: Executive Vice President, Finance and Operations

Location: United States (Onsite or Hybrid, with Travel as Needed)

Reports To: Owner / Board of Directors

Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on, transformational leader to serve as Executive Vice President of Finance and Operations of a mid-sized wholesale and import company. The business is in a critical turnaround phase, requiring a savvy, decisive executive who thrives under pressure and can stabilize finances, streamline operations, and drive profitability.

This role is not about titles or appearances — it’s about results. The right candidate will bring deep expertise in wholesale distribution, imports, online sales, vendor deductions/dilutions, and financial restructuring. They must be a doer, not a delegator: someone who can roll up their sleeves, fix problems, and implement lasting solutions.

Beyond the turnaround, this leader will play a long-term role in building a stronger, more disciplined, and growth-oriented company.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership

Own all financial management: cash flow, AR/AP, borrowing base compliance, and vendor payments.

Build and manage turnaround-focused budgets, forecasts, and performance reporting.

Manage and strengthen relationships with banks, lenders, and auditors.

Identify and resolve deductions, chargebacks, and margin dilution to protect profitability.

Operational Leadership

Oversee daily operations: imports, supply chain, logistics, warehouse, and fulfillment.

Negotiate with overseas vendors and manage global sourcing efficiency.

Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to align operations with revenue and margin goals.

Implement ERP systems and KPI dashboards for real-time visibility.

Improve processes to reduce costs, shorten lead times, and improve accuracy.

Turnaround & Strategy

Diagnose weak points in the business and implement corrective actions immediately.

Enforce accountability across all teams; rebuild organizational discipline.

Streamline expenses, restructure where necessary, and ensure lean operations.

Develop stabilization-to-growth plans and execute them with urgency.

Lead cultural change — instilling urgency, focus, and ownership across the organization.

Qualifications

10+ years of progressive leadership experience in finance and operations.

Proven success in turnaround or restructuring situations within wholesale, import, or consumer goods.

Deep understanding of imports, tariffs, supply chain, freight, and vendor negotiations.

Expertise in financial management: credit lines, covenant compliance, reporting, and bank presentations.

Skilled in handling deductions, chargebacks, and margin erosion.

Advanced Excel and ERP proficiency (forecasting, modeling, KPI dashboards).

Outstanding leadership and communication skills — direct, decisive, and credible with teams and external partners.

Must be resilient under stress, thrive in high-pressure environments, and execute quickly.

Key Attributes

Resilient operator who thrives in tough, high-stakes environments.

Strategic and tactical — able to zoom into the details while keeping the big picture in focus.

A doer who takes action, not a figurehead who delegates.

Commercially savvy; balances finance with operations and sales realities.

Results-driven, disciplined, and unafraid of hard decisions.

Compensation

Competitive base salary + performance incentives tied to turnaround and profitability.

Potential for equity or long-term upside.

Comprehensive benefits package.
