Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Expanded Duty Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of dental assisting procedures, with a focus on four handed surgical and general dentistry. As an Expanded Duty Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting dentists by performing advanced clinical tasks, managing patient care, and ensuring the smooth operation of the dental practice. Your expertise in medical and dental documentation, infection control, and chairside assisting will contribute to providing exceptional patient experiences while maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency.
Duties
- Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including prosthodontics, endodontics, and dentistry, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), ensuring proper technique and patient comfort while adhering to infection control protocols.
- Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) to accurately document patient information, treatment plans, and medical histories.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments using aseptic techniques and maintaining a sterile environment in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform vital signs measurement and basic medical imaging to support comprehensive patient assessments.
- Assist with dental procedures by providing chairside support, managing dental supplies, and ensuring patient comfort throughout treatments.
- Handle administrative tasks such as dental receptionist duties, scheduling appointments, and coordinating patient flow efficiently.
- Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical coding, and medical documentation to ensure accurate record-keeping and communication.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry procedures.
- Certification or training in expanded duties for dental assisting with proficiency in chairside assisting and infection control practices.
- Strong knowledge of practice management systems and other relevant software platforms.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while maintaining compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Knowledge of oral surgery and general dentistry principles along with experience working with patients of all ages is preferred.
- Familiarity with 3D scanners and medical imaging technology used in modern dental practices.
- Excellent understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, medical terminology, and medical coding practices.

Pay: $14.00 - $22.00 per hour
