Expanded Functions Dental Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Dental Assistant to join our clinical operations team and ensure the highest standards of patient care within our practice. The ideal candidate will have an extensive background in dental assisting, knowledge of medical terminology, and experience with systems such as Dentrix. As a leader in our office, you will guide the assistant team in providing exceptional service while adhering to HIPAA regulations and maintaining accurate medical documentation.

Duties

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the operatory team to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality patient care.
  • Assist the dentist during procedures, employing four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Manage medical documentation and maintain accurate patient records within Dentrix and other relevant systems.
  • Train and mentor new staff members on clinical procedures, office protocols, and best practices in patient interaction.
  • Collaborate with dental receptionists to streamline patient scheduling and communication.
  • Collaborate with dental hygienists to ensure smooth flow of patients. May include assisting hygiene with radiographs.
  • Conduct regular assessments of clinical operations to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.
  • Manage ordering for the clinical operations within the office.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a dental assistant or in a similar role within a dental office, preferably with advanced technology.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology related to dentistry.
  • Familiarity with Dentrix or similar dental management software is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical documentation, patient records and supplies/ordering.
  • Ability to train others effectively and foster an upbeat and positive working environment.

Hours of Operation are Monday - Thursday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Flexibility required for daily hours and there is potential for patient cases on Fridays.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
