Responsibilities

• Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric dentistry treatments.
• Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, supplies, and sterilized equipment following infection control protocols.
• Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Manage patient records efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Provide chairside assistance with four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize patient care and procedure efficiency.
• Monitor vital signs and assess patient comfort throughout procedures to ensure safety and relaxation.
• Maintain a clean, sterile environment using aseptic techniques and proper infection control procedures.
• Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and managing medical records accurately.
• Demonstrate knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical coding to facilitate seamless communication within the team.
• Utilize advanced tools such as 3D scanners and digital X-ray equipment to enhance diagnostic capabilities in general dentistry and specialized fields like prosthodontics or pediatrics.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic setting with familiarity in general dentistry procedures.
• Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; experience with medical documentation and records management is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization processes.
• Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding practices related to dental care.
• Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while adhering to safety protocols for patients and staff.
• Experience assisting with pediatric dentistry procedures is a plus; familiarity with pediatric-specific equipment like 3D scanners is advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, including pediatrics.
• Certification in chairside assisting or dental assisting from an accredited program is required; additional certifications in radiography or infection control are beneficial.
