Responsibilities

  • Assist endodontists during complex root canal procedures by preparing instruments, materials, and ensuring the operatory is fully equipped.
  • Operate dental imaging equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners to capture high-quality images necessary for diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Support infection control protocols through aseptic technique, sterilization of instruments, and maintaining a sterile environment in the treatment area.
  • Manage patient flow efficiently by greeting patients, updating vital signs, and assisting with medical history updates relevant to endodontic procedures.
  • Provide chairside assistance with dental terminology understanding, ensuring smooth communication between the patient and the dental team.
  • Collaborate with the dental receptionist to schedule appointments, verify insurance information, and handle patient inquiries related to endodontic treatments.
  • Assist with pediatric dentistry procedures when necessary, demonstrating knowledge of pediatrics-specific protocols and safety measures.

Experience

  • Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is required, preferably supporting endodontic or general dentistry procedures.
  • Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry to improve efficiency during procedures.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation seamlessly.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology related to endodontics, prosthodontics, and anatomy to facilitate effective communication within the team.
  • Experience operating medical imaging devices like X-ray machines and 3D scanners for diagnostic purposes.
  • Understanding of infection control standards and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining a safe clinical environment.
  • Ability to assist with vital signs measurement and basic pediatric dentistry procedures when required.
