Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and patient-focused Medical Assistant to join our dermatology practice. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with patients and providers in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. You will play an important role in helping us deliver thoughtful, efficient, and high-quality care each day.
Responsibilities
- Room patients and obtain/document vital signs, medical histories, medications, and chief complaints
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during dermatologic evaluations and procedures
- Assist with routine dermatologic procedures including biopsies, cryotherapy, injections, and other minor in-office procedures
- Provide real-time scribing and accurate documentation within the electronic health record (EHR), as needed
- Process and handle specimens, complete lab requisitions, and ensure proper labeling and documentation
- Prepare and maintain exam rooms, stock supplies, and ensure equipment is clean and ready for use
- Support patient flow, assist with scheduling coordination, and provide clear follow-up instructions to patients
- Assist with prescription refills, prior authorizations, and patient communication
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, infection control standards, and practice protocols
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required or currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree
- Candidates taking a structured gap year with a strong interest in healthcare are encouraged to apply
- Ability to commit to a minimum of 9–12 months in the role
- Ability to travel between our Maryland and Virginia locations as needed; reliable transportation required
- Prior experience as a Medical Assistant or in a clinical setting preferred, but not required
- Medical Assistant certification not required
- Familiarity with dermatologic terminology, conditions, and procedures is a plus
- Experience with EHR systems and clinical documentation is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a high-volume environment
- Professional, team-oriented demeanor with strong communication and patient service skills
- Energetic, proactive, eager to learn, and genuinely interested in healthcare
