Job summary: Harold James Inc. is seeking experienced Commercial Journeyman HVAC technicians specializing in air-cooled and water-cooled chillers to join our team. The ideal candidates will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various heating and cooling systems. As an HVAC chiller technician, you should possess strong technical skills and be able to work independently as well as part of a team.

About us: Harold James, Inc. has been in business since 1961, providing HVAC and mechanical services to commercial and industrial clients, specializing in condensing boilers, VFDs, AAON, non-centrifugal chillers, VRFs, and mini-splits.

We strive to give each client fast, courteous service keeping each project on-budget and on-time. Harold James Inc. works closely with building owners, managers, and subcontractors. We will always do what it takes to ensure the customers’ HVAC system is repaired or running as designed.

HVAC Technician responsibilities:

• Conduct routine maintenance on HVAC systems.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment repairs and maintenance.
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on air-cooled and water-cooled chiller systems, as well as associated equipment including cooling towers, pumps, motors, and control systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues within chiller systems, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective solutions.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctioning equipment, such as air conditioning units, heat pumps, refrigeration systems, and boilers.
• Perform installations of new heating and cooling systems.
• Troubleshoot issues with electrical and mechanical components of HVAC systems.
• Collaborate with team members and management to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines while on job sites.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience with commercial air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, or equivalent commercial HVAC experience.
• Knowledge of commercial air conditioning equipment with boilers, refrigeration, and hydronics is a plus.
• Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical components of HVAC systems.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Must be physically fit and able to lift at least 50 pounds.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends, as needed.
• Background check and drug test required.
• Willingness to continue education and training to stay current with industry developments and advancements.
