We are growing and seeking a highly experienced, patient-focused medical scheduler to join our busy orthopedic practice in Corona.
This is a high-volume, fast-paced environment. We are looking for someone who not only understands insurance-driven scheduling, but who genuinely cares about guiding patients through their orthopedic care journey with professionalism, empathy, and efficiency.
Orthopedic scheduling experience is strongly preferred.
Our practice serves a large HMO population, so a thorough understanding of referrals, authorizations, and insurance-based scheduling protocols is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage high-volume inbound calls in a busy orthopedic call center
- Schedule appointments accurately according to HMO/PPO insurance requirements
- Review and verify patient eligibility and benefits
- Obtain and manage referrals and authorizations prior to scheduling
- Communicate clearly with patients regarding next steps in their care
- Collaborate closely with front office, referral coordinators, surgery schedulers, and clinical teams
- Serve as backup operator for multi-line phone system
- Cross-train to support front desk operations as needed
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years experience in a medical scheduling or specialty practice setting
- Strong working knowledge of HMO and PPO plans
- Demonstrated experience with referral and authorization processes
- Ability to multitask in a high-volume call environment while maintaining accuracy
- Excellent communication skills and professional phone etiquette
- Strong computer and EMR proficiency
Strongly Preferred
- Orthopedic scheduling experience
- Experience coordinating imaging, DME, or surgical referrals
- Spanish-speaking ability
- Previous referral coordination experience
