Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Family Law Paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will assist a solo practitioner with ovef 40 years experience in various aspects of family law cases, including divorce, child custody, and estate planning. This role requires strong organizational skills, proficiency in legal research, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. The Family Law Paralegal will play a crucial role in ensuring that our clients receive the highest level of service and support throughout their legal proceedings.

Duties

  • Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents such as petitions, motions, and discovery requests related to family law cases.
  • Conduct thorough legal research using tools to support case preparation.
  • Draft and proofread correspondence and legal documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable laws.
  • Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and accessible.
  • Participate in managing client appointments
  • Assist in hearing and discovery calendaring
  • Communicate with clients to gather information, provide updates on case status, and address any inquiries.
  • Assist in the preparation for court hearings by organizing exhibits and evidence.
  • Stay informed about changes in family law regulations, including tribal law regulations, to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with other legal professionals within the firm to provide comprehensive support for personal injury law, workers compensation law, and estate planning cases.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience MINIMUM 5 years experience as a FAMILY LAW paralegal.
  • Strong knowledge of family law principles and procedures and court local rules.
  • Proficient in legal research methodologies and tools such as Westlaw.
  • Excellent proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective client interaction.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • A degree or certification in paralegal studies or related field is preferred but not mandatory.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $45.00 - $70.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 30 per week
