Experienced Commercial-Industrial HVAC Service Technician

Duties

• Perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and industrial HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration systems, and ammonia refrigeration equipment.
• Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, HVAC design plans, and electrical diagrams to accurately diagnose issues and execute repairs.
• Conduct routine inspections of HVAC equipment to identify potential problems before they escalate, ensuring safety and efficiency standards are met.
• Utilize diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and other testing devices to evaluate electrical components and mechanical systems.
• Repair or replace mechanical components including motors, compressors, valves, belts, pumps, welders, and piping systems related to plumbing and refrigeration.
• Maintain detailed service records, complete shift reports, incident logs, and documentation for compliance purposes.
• Operate field service vehicles safely as a <PERSON> driver while adhering to all safety regulations during on-site visits.
• Collaborate with property maintenance teams to coordinate repairs or upgrades that improve system reliability and energy efficiency.
• Support ongoing training on new HVAC technologies such as HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning / Refrigeration) systems and advanced controls.

Requirements

• 15 + years of commercial and/or industrial HVAC service experience.
• Proven experience as a service technician specializing in commercial or industrial HVAC systems with a strong mechanical background.
• Extensive knowledge of HVAC components including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration (including ammonia refrigeration), plumbing systems, and related mechanical equipment.
• Ability to read schematics, electrical diagrams, HVAC design plans and troubleshoot complex systems efficiently.
• Hands-on experience with equipment repair involving welding techniques and boiler maintenance is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with field service operations including appliance repair, property maintenance tasks, and equipment diagnostics.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating service vehicles as a <PERSON> driver preferred.
• Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by experience with Ohmmeters or other electrical testing tools.
• Ability to work independently in the field while managing multiple service calls effectively.
• Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a proactive approach to maintenance issues.
• Certifications in HVAC/R technology or refrigeration are advantageous; ongoing training in new systems is encouraged.
